Job board software for associations
An association job board is not a business, it is a member benefit that happens to produce revenue. That changes almost everything about how it should be built. The board exists to make membership worth renewing, the pricing has to distinguish members from everyone else, and the money has to arrive in a form your finance committee recognises.
From $79/month · 14-day free trial · No setup feesMost job board software is built for the opposite buyer: one person, self-serve, credit card, one price for everybody. That software will run an association board, but you will spend the first month working around its assumptions about who is allowed to post and what they should pay.
Two prices, one board
“Our member records live in our AMS. Will this sync with it?”
No, and this is the honest answer rather than the hopeful one. Kardow has no direct integration with GrowthZone, Novi AMS, iMIS, YourMembership, MemberClicks or Higher Logic. If a member logging into your AMS needs to arrive at the job board already recognised as a member, without typing anything, we do not do that today.
What is available instead is the API and the webhooks. Member status can be pushed into Kardow as a field on the account, and applications and postings can be pushed back out, which covers eligibility and reporting but is an integration you build rather than a switch you flip.
If AMS sync is the requirement that decides this, Niceboard is the better tool and connects to the systems listed above directly. We would rather say that here than have you find out in month two. Our own comparison covers where each of us fits.
SHRM HR Jobs
SHRM's career centre is the shape to study, whatever software you end up on. Note what it does with pricing tiers, how prominently it separates member and non-member rates, and how much of the page is given over to employer packages rather than to job seekers. An association board that reads like a job seeker product is usually underselling the half that pays for it.The parts of Kardow that do this job
Member and non-member pricing on the same board
Posting prices are set per account type rather than globally, so a member account checks out at the member rate and everyone else at the public rate, without maintaining two boards or a discount code that leaks.Invoices and payment links, not just cards
Institutional employers pay on an invoice with a PO number, on net terms, through their accounts payable system. Card-only checkout loses those sales outright. Invoicing and custom payment links are on the Scale plan.Approval before anything goes live
Association boards are reputational. Every posting can require approval before publication, so a listing that does not belong on your board never appears on it.Your own fields on the posting form
Most fields an association needs are ones a general job board has never heard of: certification required, chapter, practice area, licence type. These are configurable fields that become filters on the board and facets in search, not free text buried in the description.A board that looks like the association
Your domain, your branding, no platform badge in the footer. On Pro and above the Kardow name comes off entirely and the board sits on careers.yourassociation.org rather than on someone else's subdomain.Where Kardow is the wrong answer here
What people ask before they build one.
- How much can an association job board realistically make?
- It depends almost entirely on how specialised your field is rather than on how large your membership is. A board serving a niche where the hiring pool is small and the roles are hard to fill supports non-member posting rates in the low hundreds per listing, and a handful of annual employer packages on top. A board serving a broad field competes with the general market and gets pushed toward commodity pricing. The useful test before you build anything: could an employer in your field find these candidates anywhere else? If yes, price like a job board. If no, price like access.
- Do we need to charge members to post?
- Usually not, and free member posting is often the stronger position. The revenue comes from the non-member rate and from employer packages, and free posting for members is what makes the career centre visible in renewal conversations. The exception is an association whose members are themselves the employers, in which case free posting removes the revenue rather than the friction.
- Can we restrict applications to members only?
- Yes. Accounts can be gated so that only approved members can apply, or so that some listings are member-only while the rest are public. The common configuration is a public board with a member-only window: listings appear to members first and open to everyone a week later, which is a benefit members can feel without hiding your inventory from search engines.
- What happens to our existing job board content?
- Jobs, employers and members can be imported. Live listings come across with their fields intact, employer and member records keep their original signup dates and custom fields, and any resume you have a URL for is downloaded and indexed. What does not come across is the URLs: old job pages are not redirected, so the new board is indexed fresh rather than inheriting the previous board's pages. That is worth planning for. Kardow verifies the board in Google Search Console, submits its sitemap and pushes new job URLs to Google's Indexing API, which is what shortens the gap.
